Creators…don’t lose sight of your original concept.
Use discernment when seeking others’ opinions
If you’ve been blessed with an idea, guess what? It’s yours. One issue we creators have is that we are sensitive and creative beings as artists. Creators often work alone. Which obviously can be isolating. So, when we have an idea, we often seek others’ opinions about what we have created, many times for reassurance or validation. All good.
There is nothing wrong with seeking others’ opinions. But, as you consider feedback, be careful not to allow other voices to drown out your initial why and your vision.
When seeking input ask yourself, “does the person you’re seeking feedback from have the lens from which you need input?” or “Might they be a low-key hater, and take your idea and/or sabotage in some way” (clearly you would know that in advance). You have intellectual property and value to protect. So, be discerning.
And always remember — YOU are the originator, YOU have final say. All other opinions, while welcome, are optional.
